What is the POSH Act?

The law on sexual harassment at the workplace.

The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 requires employers to provide a safe workplace.

An employer with ten or more employees must set up an Internal Committee (IC) to receive and inquire into complaints.

Complaints and the people involved are kept confidential. The IC files an annual report.

Employers must also run awareness programmes and display the penalties and the IC's details.

Dates and rules change. Check the current notification or ask your adviser before relying on this page.
